Who We Are

DUNIA PLANET FOUNDATION is a Tanzanian non-governmental, non-profit organisation dedicated to reducing plastic pollution through community recycling, education, employment, and social empowerment.

We believe that plastic waste is not only an environmental challenge — it is also an opportunity to create positive social and economic change. Starting in the Kilimanjaro Region, we work with local communities to collect plastic waste and create practical incentives for people to participate in keeping their environment clean.

Our approach is simple: turn waste into opportunity. Through our collection and recycling programmes, community members — particularly people from more vulnerable backgrounds — can receive basic household products in exchange for collected plastic, while contributing to a cleaner and healthier environment.

Education is at the heart of our long-term vision. We work with schools and communities to promote better waste-management habits and empower children to become the next generation of environmental leaders.

As we grow, our ambition is to recycle and repurpose the plastic we collect into useful products that can benefit society, such as furniture for schools and other community facilities. We also aim to create local employment opportunities, with a strong commitment to women’s participation.

Our long-term vision is to expand from the Kilimanjaro Region across Tanzania, building partnerships with communities, schools, businesses, government institutions, and other environmental organisations.

Our vision is simple: a Tanzania free from plastic pollution, where waste is transformed into opportunity.
